Greiner marbles are among the earliest type of handmade German glass marbles, from an important and formative period in the technical history of marble making. They used a hand-gathered technique of swirling and forming the marble, resulting in very unique pieces with a fluid spontaneity and individuality unrivalled by later cane and rod types flooding the marble markets after the 1860's.
