DAS Harvest Moon MarbleCollector SeriesDichroic SparklesMINTRun Date: 7/10/11 This DAS Harvest Moon run is one of the most successful DAS marble runs since the inception of the company for a number of reasons. The sheer variety of marble families are beyond the imagination...more than a dozen distinct families of marbles in the Harvest Moon run. Also, the coverage of the marbles in the run is typically very good. There was a generous application of gold lutz dusting to many marbles in this run. There are a few guinea marbles with confetti sprinkles from this run, also. See below for a description of this particular marble. This special marble has a nice dichroic stripe that can be easily seen in all of the pictures. That thin red swirl is all dichroic material and within that stripe you will find various places where that rare dichroic material sparkles like a red riby...it is quite amazing stuff. There is also a moderate amount of green aventurine glass...it covers 50% of the marble surface area. This complements the wonderful ruby red dichroic glass even more than usual. So, there you have a beautiful design...green aventurine and a red dichroic stripe...a great combination. Oh, and don't forget that cool tangerine swirl giving a large amount of flair. The rare dichroic material is a semiconductor material and would merit a quick internet search if you are not aware of what it is about. It is a special ruby sparkle that is quite different from the gold lutz sparkle found on many other marbles. If you don't have any dichroic ribbon marbles, this would be a good one to add to your collection. I would recommend to Google "dichroic material" to get more interesting details if you care to learn more about this fascinating technology. You really can't go wrong with this one as a special collectible marble. I try to rotate the marble to give multiple views. I use a Canon Rebel DSLR camera with flash to shown as much of the fine details as possible. This marble was manufactured using the 3/4" machine and the size of this particular marble is 0.675" in diameter as measured by electronic calipers. Note: this marble is slightly smaller in size than most of the JABO/DAS marbles that are made on the 3/4" machines. It is much larger than a peewee of course, but please be aware that it is just a bit smaller than average. Thanks.
