His colleague attributed them to a German family living in Ohio in the 1930s whose grandfather had been a trader in the Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Dakota territories in the mid 19th century. As such we would expect that these beads would have been traded and been in use by Sioux, Blackfoot, Cheyenne, Comanche, Crow, Arapaho, Pawnee, Kiowa, Mandan, and Osage.
